This sprawling nation, whose capital, Connaissport, lies where the great Continent meets the Traders’ Sea has become a melting pot of all the peoples of the world. The nation is ruled by a democratically elected hierarchy, voted in every five years. Through the bonds of a shared history of warfare, the citizens of this land have learnt the value of peace through diplomacy. People here come together in the name of peace and study magical arts and the sciences, to improve knowledge for all. In the millennia since the sundering, the Continentals have compensated for the loss of technology and reliable science through the magical arts. Where scientific principles no longer produce reliable outcomes (such as light travelling in a straight line at the speed of light only if it feels like it) technology is supplemented by spells. The heart of Connaissport is the University by the Sea, one of the last universities left on the known world. The Continentals are great crafters and traders, and their goods are desired across the globe (although only their wine is so sought after in the Wild Islands). The Continent has not been involved in any major wars for over 1000 years and has been the sole force maintaining peace between the Wild Islands and the Newlands. Continentals have a great thirst for knowledge and learning. Their democratic society is built on a fundamental principle of self-determination and responsibility. An individual has the right to live their own life and has the obligation to allow the same in others.
